November 8, 2023 (Updated) - Residents are noticing significant changes alongside Goshen Road and Franke Park.

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation has begun preparations for Phase I of the Franke Park Master Plan, including a new entrance off Goshen Avenue, a new bridge over Spy Run Creek, and a new pavilion.

In the master plan document, Mayor Tom Henry explains, "The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department has identified the need for a comprehensive master plan...to carry this important park through the next 25 years and beyond."

Franke Park Phase 1

Notable highlights of the master plan include:

- The establishment of an organized vehicular circulation system with improved access and pedestrian gateways

- Additional parking for Foellinger Theatre and the Zoo

- The creation of over 5 miles of new pedestrian pathways and enhanced connectivity between park venues and adjoining neighborhoods

- Additional cycling amenities like showers, shelters, and wayfinding

- Two new playgrounds

- New shelters, a boat house, a Day Camp building, and Community/Nature Center

- Ecological improvements
