On October 12th, 2019, MKS and countless Manchester University alumni, student athletes, and staff broke ground on a new multipurpose athletic stadium. The stadium was planned to replace the former Carl Burt Field, constructed on a 1940’s footprint. The field turf allows teams to practice outside from early spring to late fall, relieving demand on the PERC. The new artificial turf is now saving the University over 240 hours of maintenance each year! The size of the field permits the stadium to be used for soccer or lacrosse. A modern, Olympic-size outdoor track around the field’s perimeter was installed to give Manchester the capacity to host major track and field events. The former Carl Burt Field allowed for approximately 50 hours of use per year. Now, Manchester can utilize their stadium for at least 1,500 hours each year. The addition of the stadium will assist in strengthening Manchester University’s athletic portfolio, as well as their recruiting efforts.
